"REPORT ON RECENT SERIAL ATROCITIES WITHIN THE CAPITAL
As yet no significant arrests have been made in this latest outbreak of grotesque killings within the Capital and the Authorities refuse to comment. There have been 17x such murders reported to date.
Similar murders to these, so called, ‘Monstrum’ incidents, have occurred in other parts of Europe over the last decade, some as far back as the 1950s.
Forensics can make nothing of the bizarre metallic eruptions found on the bodies of the victims or of the unintelligible graffiti daubed around each murder site.
The name of the latest victim was just released, a Professor Werner Von Croy, renowned academic and archaeologist.
There are no known survivors of these attacks so far and at present nothing appears to link any of the individuals involved, although there is some conjecture about the significant number of casualties within Parisian gangland factions.
Meanwhile panic and speculation are rife within the Capital and members of the public are advised to go about their business exercising extreme caution, especially after dark."

Encore aujourd’hui, aucune véritable arrestation n’a pu être établie contre les horribles assassinats survenus dans la capitale et les autorités refusent de donner leurs commentaires. A ce jour, dix-sept meurtres sont à déplorer.
D’autres meurtres similaires ont eu lieu dans différents pays du continent européen au cours de ces dix dernières années, certains datant même des années 50, tous rejoignant le même mode opératoire du dénommé « Monstrum ». Les autorités médico-légales ne parviennent à expliquer ni les étranges éclats métalliques retrouvés dans le corps des victimes, ni à interpréter les incompréhensibles graffitis présents sur les murs des scènes de crimes.
Une rumeur provenant des « Forces d’Investigation des Crimes Spéciaux » laisse cependant entendre qu’il pourrait s’agir d’une forme de rituel. Ces actes seraient l’œuvre d’un unique responsable atteint d’une profonde psychose.
Le nom de la dernière victime a récemment été déclaré, il s’agit du professeur d’académie et archéologiste renommé Werner Von Croy.
Aucun survivant n’est à ce jour connu à la suite de ces attaques et aucun lien entre chaque-unes des victimes n’a été établit, bien qu’il soit probable qu’un lien soit présent entre les victimes provenant de la pègre parisienne.
Pendant ce temps, la panique et les spéculations se répandent partout dans la capitale française et le public est conseillé d’aller et venir avec une extrême prudence, tout particulièrement après la tombée de la nuit.
Dans des articles de presse plus sensationnels, cette série de crime a été interprété comme « L’obscure renaissance du Monstrum ».

When I wrote Angel Of Darkness I naturally drew on some of my own obsessions and interests:
- Angels and ‘other’ beings guiding/protecting an evolving human race
- Secret societies and groups, ones with privileged knowledge
- The uncovering of hidden histories, events happening in the shadows of those we are familiar with – the Shadow Histories
- Long lived characters with evolving powers
- Groups dedicated to the suppression/protection of the shadow truths
- Arcane artefacts, weird/occult science, the unexplained
- Lost knowledge, processes, places and powers
- Anything subterranean: salt mines in Cheshire, tunnel systems, vast lakes, underground cities in Turkey, the Alps, the Antarctic, the Lake District or wherever
- Locations: picturesque, gothic, cinematic, dark, panoramic, brooding, brilliant, threatening and stunning"
